Leave-In Conditioner

Does your hair lack moisture on the mids and ends? Do hair oils make your hair feel “weighed down” or greasy? Maybe you should try a leave-in conditioner!

I have a lot of clients that have dry ends, and I myself have dry ends. Using a leave-in conditioner can help moisturize those ends leaving your hair restored, soft, and shiny! Sometimes due to heat, chemical damage, color, etc. our hair can get really dry and eventually can break off or look “fried.” A leave-in conditioner may can help restore some of the moisture you’re needing!

Not all leave-ins are applied the same way, however for the most part most of them are! Read the directions on your leave-in before applying! Most of the time, when you get out of the shower, towel dry your hair really good and spray your leave-in throughout your hair. Try to mainly spray your mids and ends and NOT your roots. This could cause you to have an oily scalp. Also, sometimes you can let your hair air dry some and spray your leave-in throughout damp hair. I usually towel dry mine and my clients really good and apply on wet hair. I wash my hair twice a week, so I use my leave-in every time I wash my hair. If you wash your hair every day or every other day, you may want to use your leave-in every other time or once a week depending on how dry your hair may be! Adding too much moisture can weigh your hair down or cause an oily scalp.

I keep two different leave-ins on hand in the salon since everyone’s hair is different. I have one that is “stronger” and more moisturizing, and I have one that is less moisturizing for those that don‘t need very much moisture added.

Kenra Daily Provision is my leave-in that I use on my people that don’t need strong moisturizing. I would usually use this one someone that has fine dry hair. Sometimes I will use it one someone with medium dry hair. It really just depends on how dry the client’s hair is! While this leave-in offers the moisture and restoration the hair is needing, it will not weigh down fine hair!

Mizani Miracle Milk is my “stronger“ leave-in. I absolutely LOVE this leave-in! While it is used for all hair types, I try to stay away from using it on fine hair. If used carefully and sparsely, this could be used on fine hair, but it is possible it could weigh the hair down if used too much or if too much is used at once. I usually use this leave-in on medium dry hair or coarse hair! This leaves the hair so soft and shiny! I especially love this on my coarse, grey haired clients!

Personally, I have medium dry hair, and I love the Mizani on myself. I also use a hair oil because my hair is very dry from heat usage and being highlighted! I have however used the Kenra for a long time, and it also does well on my hair! It really comes down to how much moisture your hair needs and/or can handle. There are lots of leave-ins out there! Don’t be afraid to research or ask around to find which one suits you best! These are just two I’ve used and love!

Always remember it’s best to ask your stylist their opinion! They know your hair, and they’ll usually know what would work great for you! I’m always open to answering any questions or taking a look at your hair and offering my opinion!

I hope this was helpful! Comment or get in touch with me for any questions!
