Is a heat spray necessary for your hair? Can a heat spray create much difference in the integrity of your hair? You’d be surprised!

Most everyone uses heat to style their hair. Whether it’s just blow drying, straightening, curling, or doing all three. It’s well known that heat isn’t great on your hair, but how else are we supposed to style this mess without some type of heat? There are some heatless hair stylers, however if you’re like me and have naturally curly hair, they will leave you with frizz and crazy waves in places you don’t want them. This is why heat protectant is an amazing product to be able to use to ensure the style you are trying to achieve without damaging your hair too bad with your heat stylers!

Every heat protectant should have the amount of heat coverage they offer somewhere on the bottle. (for example: 270 degrees-420 degrees) There are numerous different types of heat sprays that may also offer moisture, or strong hold! The bottle will also have directions, but for the most part, all heat sprays are used the same way!

This is a heat spray I use very often in the salon and at home! Kenra Thermal Spray 19 is a heat protectant that also creates a strong hold for your style without leaving any weight or “crunch” on your hair! I especially love this on my formal hair girls because it helps hold that style in place while protecting their hair from heat damage!

Everyone always tells me, “My curls lasted 4-7 days when you curled it. What’s your secret?” And while part of my secret is my method of curling, this heat styler also does the trick!

I also love Kenra Blowdry Spray. This product is a heat protectant that ensures up to 50% faster drying, and it’s also moisturizing! (not to mention it smells amazing) I especially love this product on my girls with long, heavy hair! It helps me blow dry so much faster and creates shine!

Most heat protectants are simple to use. When I get out of the shower, or when my client comes out of the bowl, before I detangle I spray a leave-in and some type of heat protectant all over the hair. I do this before I detangle to ensure I am getting max coverage while also lifting the hair and moving it around! If their hair is dry and I’m doing a style, I like to subsection and use heat protectant on each section!

Heat damage creates dryness, split ends, and eventually breakage. It is important to find a heat protectant that works well for you! Ask your stylist their opinion for best results! They know your hair and what will work best for you! As always, feel free to ask me any questions you may have!
